Zimmer Clinical Research Programs

Zimmer is committed to the continued post-market surveillance of our devices. Zimmer sponsored programs are available for select hip, knee, trauma and extremity orthopaedic devices. These programs are prospective, multi-center clinical outcome studies that are designed to capture patient safety, product performance and other device appropriate outcomes measures. Study design may include post-market outcome studies, Randomized Comparative Trials and/or FDA Post-Approval Studies.

Post-market surveillance studies typically last from 2 to 5 years with some studies extending out through ten years. These studies are completed at the investigators’ office typically during routine patient visits. Common outcomes measures such as the Harris Hip Score, Knee Society Score, SF-12 and adverse events are collected as a part of the various study protocols. All collected data may be submitted on paper or electronically via our web-based e-Clinical Communities or Laptop Application.
